Wheeww! Close call!
Boy, I don’t know what was up with the 605 freeway yesterday, but it was swarming with CHPs giving out tickets. Shortly after my transition from the 10, I saw a CHP at the side of the road, door open, standing there with his radar. Strange, how can he catch anyone if he is not in his car?? Well, as I made the curve, there at the side was a CHP giving a ticket. As we curved a little further, 4 or 5 more at the side of the road giving tickets. Wow, better keep an eye on the speed! After seeing about 3 more, I made it safely to mom and dad’s.
Picked up the twins and headed down to Fred’s for Owen’s party. Onto the 605 and over into the carpool lane. Activity still going on, so watching my speed. Look in my mirror and behind me is a CHP with lights on! What!!! I realize he wants me to pull over and I make it over to the shoulder. By the time he gets to the window, I have license and registration ready. He pops his head in the window, sees the kids in the back and informs me that he clocked me at 82. No way!! (Not that it isn’t possible, but not today. I’m in the truck and I can’t leadfoot it the way I can with the Lexus. Plus, I know that they are on a roll today!) I sweetly tell him that I was being very careful and can’t imagine I was going that fast. Corynn starts asking him if he is a policeman, Camdyn wants to know if he is a cop. He asks them their names, chatting with them, takes my license and registration and goes back to his car. Well, he comes back and gives me my stuff back and tells me to slow down and carefully pull back out into traffic. Wheeww! No ticket. Lucky day!
(My thought - I think that he thought I was illegally in the carpool lane and when he saw the kids, had to come up with something!)
