Happy Birthday Amanda! xoxoxo
Amanda Amanda1

Owen had a blast at his 4th birthday party!

Wheeww! Close call!

Boy, I don’t know what was up with the 605 freeway yesterday, but it was swarming with CHPs giving out tickets. Shortly after my transition from the 10, I saw a CHP at the side of the road, door open, standing there with his radar. Strange, how can he catch anyone if he is not in his car?? Well, as I made the curve, there at the side was a CHP giving a ticket. As we curved a little further, 4 or 5 more at the side of the road giving tickets. Wow, better keep an eye on the speed! After seeing about 3 more, I made it safely to mom and dad’s.

Picked up the twins and headed down to Fred’s for Owen’s party. Onto the 605 and over into the carpool lane. Activity still going on, so watching my speed. Look in my mirror and behind me is a CHP with lights on! What!!! I realize he wants me to pull over and I make it over to the shoulder. By the time he gets to the window, I have license and registration ready. He pops his head in the window, sees the kids in the back and informs me that he clocked me at 82. No way!! (Not that it isn’t possible, but not today. I’m in the truck and I can’t leadfoot it the way I can with the Lexus. Plus, I know that they are on a roll today!) I sweetly tell him that I was being very careful and can’t imagine I was going that fast. Corynn starts asking him if he is a policeman, Camdyn wants to know if he is a cop. He asks them their names, chatting with them, takes my license and registration and goes back to his car. Well, he comes back and gives me my stuff back and tells me to slow down and carefully pull back out into traffic. Wheeww! No ticket. Lucky day!

(My thought - I think that he thought I was illegally in the carpool lane and when he saw the kids, had to come up with something!)

Dad Graduates!

Every Monday-Friday afternoon since June 30, my dad, along with mom or Christopher, has been catching the shuttle to go up to Kaiser Sunset for radiation. Thursday was finally his last day! They have met some interesting people on that shuttle and seen them come and go. It was like a little club. Everyone is so happy for each other as their radiation comes to an end. As you see, they get a certificate to show that they "did it!" Dad got an extra one that they all signed and drew pictures on. One of the guys was quite entranced by Kim Kardashian and since dad used to work for a Kardashian, this guy was in awe! Crazy!!

Anyway, here is dad leaving on the last day with his certificates and the mask that he had to wear every afternoon to protect his head. Special made for him.

Good job Dad!!

Our early morning walk at the Living Desert!

We headed out early this morning for a walk at the Living Desert. As members, we get in before it opens and get to enjoy it before the crowds come in. The animals were really on display today! None were in hiding. I love the giraffes and I want the frogs! They were so colorful!

In a span of 2 hours, I managed to take about 150 pictures. I am in big trouble doing 12 days in Alaska!

Enjoy a few of the beautiful (and not so beautiful) animals that we saw.

Stars
We didn't see a lot, but saw some pretty good shooting stars at around 2:00am this morn! Try tonight, they may still be goin' at it!

So You Think You Can Dance!!!

I love, love, love this show!! I watch with a big goofy grin on my face like some proud parent watching their kid perform. Have been watching from the very first season, but this was the best season yet! All of the dancers were great, and I loved watching Twitch, but have had Katee and Joshua pegged from the very start. I enjoyed every routine they did together and they never missed with anyone else they were paired up with. Congrats to the two of them!

Can't wait til next May to do this all over again!

I can't believe it has been a year!

Wow, I started my blog a year ago today and what a year it has been! It's had good and it's had not so good, we can only hope for better things to come.

Something to think about - are you a Tigger or an Eeyore?? (Thanks to Randy Pausch for that thought.) Make the best of what you have and enjoy each day to it's fullest! You absolutely do not know what tomorrow may bring.

So, on to tomorrow!! Goodnight!

Ringo in action! Miss the mop top!

It's a bit jiggly, cuz we were sittin' on the risers and the place was rockin'! Couldn't keep my hand still.

See how tiny!
The awwww of nature!

I have found that this rock (it’s a fake to cover some pipes) at the side of the house seems to be a safe haven (for a bit anyway) for some of the toads in the area. You may remember the big one that I posted a few months back. Well, I have taken to checking under it periodically and occasionally I find a new inhabitant. A month ago it was the toad that you see sitting in the palm of my hand and this morning, look at the teeny tiny toad that was there!

I always wonder where they come from?? They start as tadpoles, but where? It is too blasted hot for any pools of water to stick around too long and how do they always seem to find my rock? Where do they disappear too when I can’t find them any longer? (Although I did spot some roadkill a couple of streets over that looked vaguely familiar – was it my toad?) Sad day!! (to quote Chelcie)

We’ll see how long this little guy sticks around.
