Thunder & Lightning & Rain..Oh My!

Went out for my walk this morning at 5:45am and it had rained, so was hot (90) and muggy! Started out and got some thunder and lightning and then by the time I got back, I almost missed this beautiful sunrise. The skys are cloudy. It is going to be a hot one. Soooo, this afternoon we are heading to San Clemente to beat the heat in the surf. Will visit Louise and Bob for a few days and then head down to Del Mar to visit our friends Mike and Barb and Petco Stadium for the Dodgers/Padres game.

Thanks to Kym and the girls...

I got to spend a fun day on the water slides. Kym, Chelcie, Madison and their friends, sisters Ashley and Madesyn, picked me up and we headed to Yucaipa park. We had a good day relaxing, swimming and going down the water slides. The little girls loved waiting at the end of the slides to get splashed by the big guys who would come barreling down screaming and then land with a huge splash at the end! Fun, fun, fun and then back to the heat!

who took me out to see my first lunar eclipse when I was about 8 years old.

By the light...of the silvery moon...

It is now 3:21am and the moon is in total eclipse. It is now a pale red glow in the sky. I wish I could capture that picture, but comes out as a total dark nothing. Bummer! It is quite something! The stars are really out there too. I know y'all don't want me to call and wake you, so I will share the transition in the pictures below. Doesn't do it justice.

Saturday...

I picked up Chelcie and Madison and headed into Downey. After spending the morning with my mom and dad and their computer, Jody and I packed up all the kids and headed to Adventure City. We had a fun time on the rides and visiting the animals in the petting zoo. When Corynn's meltdown let us know it was time to leave, we packed her and Camdyn into the van while Chelcie, Nick and Madison went in to check out the amphibian house. Snakes, spiders, turtles, etc. Wish we could have spent a little more time checking that out. That will be an adventure for the future. After that we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's for a swim. A good end to a fun day!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!

Where has this year gone. Tonight is the big night! The NRFL (National Rotisserie Football League) draft. Believe you me! This is big in our house. As of now, football has officially taken over The White House. Mark and Doug have been in this league since 1987. Every Sunday will be consumed by football. The phone starts ringing first thing in the morning on Sundays to get the changes in on time before the 10:00 am deadline. Then the fun begins!! Mark puts out a newsletter with all the stats after the Monday nite game letting everyone know where they stand (along with the punches where they lie). It is not always pretty! But it is all in good fun.

This year the tropy has been dedicated to Dave Skelley. Dave was a team owner and a great friend of Mark's. He passed away last year unexpectedly and has been missed greatly.

Let the games begin!!!!

came home from camp today. They both had a great time! We all went to dinner at Mario's and Chelcie talked non-stop until Doug had to tell her to breathe!!! Madison finally got her turn. We were crackin' up!

Up at 2 am this morn...

to watch the meteor showers. We laid out on the putting green staring into the night sky. More like meteor sprinkles. Not as many as we have seen in the past, but still quite cool when it happened. Laid out and watched for about an hour. Stars to infinity and beyond!!!
