Life...

has been throwing me a lot of curves lately (as I know it has to most of you out there). Mark and I were sitting talking this morning and he gave me the movie quote below, (as most of you know, in our family a conversation cannot go on without some movie quote thrown in) which I thought was a pretty good one.

As I researched it, I came upon this great website called Reel Life Wisdom. It has some great movie quotes on life, wisdom, etc. I'm going to add some in here from time to time, but check it out!

Goin' Coconuts!

A couple of weeks ago, Madison wanted to try a real coconut. We bought one, took it home, and made a big production out of opening it up - only to find it was all moldy inside! Pretty colors, but it was suppose to be white!

Well, Madison and I were at the store today and decided to try it again. As you can see, we got one with a lot of personality! Bit Madison on the finger, so we had to split open his head. As the juice poured out, Madison said "That doesn't look like milk!" (or something to that effect) The juice is clear and not all that tasty. The coconut meat was nice and white, but not that tasty.

Gotta hand it to those "Survivors". Guess when you have nothing else to eat, coconuts are pretty tasty!

Update on Dad

My dad was doing really good yesterday! He was moving from chair to walker much easier. Fred and I looked at each other in amazement, because it wasn't like that the other day. Lori and Lindsay were here last night and we were up late visiting. Let's hope he didn't overdo and today is more of the same. We go to the doctor tomorrow to find out how things are. Keep good thoughts!!

Goofin' with Dad's wheelchair!

Yesterday, Nick, Fred, and I were trying to pop wheelies with dad's wheelchair. Was easier than I expected and quite fun! Fred stood behind me to make sure I didn't crack my head open.

Cute sighting during my morning walk!

Wow!

3:20 pm and I had to run out to the bank. My car had been sitting on the street and registered 111!!! By the time I drove to the bank it had settled at a more doable 104. On my way back to work, it finally settled down to 100. Had to darn near put a jacket on!

Thank goodness a bit of a cooling spell starts tomorrow. Back to the 80s. Too early for this heat yet! Guess that's what we get for living in the desert!

Happy 24th Birthday Christopher!!

In memory of my brother Don - how can it be 21 years?
Brave Madison took the first swim of the season (water still a bit cold for some of us)...

Ok - I've been corrected. Nick was out here the week of Easter break. Since his pal, Papa, was laid up, Nick hung with Madison and Kym for a couple of days. I forgot that the two of them took a swim at that time. Still I give them credit. Water is not real warm yet!

The weather was so beautiful...

we got out of the house for a few hours to take a walk at the Living Desert. Did it a little different this time and instead of going off to the right in search of the animals, took in the beauty of the landscape that they have off to the left. What beauty we took in!

Look into the middle of the bright pink flower and you will see a bee burrowing in to get some pollen.

(Mark said that the big turtle is looking right at me saying "You killed my cousin!")

Softball Begins!

Chelcie had her first softball game last night. She did some great catching! Bases were loaded and she got a runner out at home on a bobble hit to hold them. Her first hit was a slam right to the pitcher and the next time she was up, also to the pitcher, who had to make the decision - send it home or to first to get Chelcie out. Throw went to home too late! Runner scored and Chelcie was safe!

They were ahead 6-0, but then their pitcher got tired and a switch was made. New pitcher had a bum arm and strange things were going on at the pitcher's mound as they tried to prepare her to pitch. Pitches were all over. The other team went ahead, but, time limit was called and it reverted back to previous inning! We won - 6-0! Kinda strange game.
